Ligularia ‘Little Rocket’ is a dwarf version of ‘The Rocket’. This shorter selection is a cross between ‘The Rocket’ x ‘Lanternchen’. It was selected for its relatively compact habit and free-flowering ability. Clump forming perennial with large, rich green, triangular, pointed, toothed leaves, with heart-shaped bases. Great for lightly shaded moist areas. In late summer, tall slender racemes of numerous yellow flowerheads, to 1-1/2 inches across, with orange-yellow centers, are born on black stems. Appreciates some afternoon shade, which will be brightened by upright golden yellow flowers riding on dark stems over large, bold leaves. Try at the waters edge, in a moist woodland garden or for its vertical and horizontal interest in containers. Very impressive planted in groups or as a background in the perennial border. Though it does as well in well-drained soil, just as long as it never entirely dries out. Ligularia is also a true bog plant and can have water up to the head of the root without harm. Zone 4
