Garden Showcase

Your garden can be shown off here too!  Just send me some pictures of your gardens and comments.
I will try my best to get all submitted gardens posted on the site.
The only way to be fair is by a random draw.  I will put your name in a basket and pick out a new garden to show off here each, I am thinking month?  The only catch is you have to be an existing customer of mine and show off Gardens Plus purchased perennials!
It will demonstrate to other gardeners looking at the web site how they can combine the various plants available like yourself.

Gardens and comments from Anne S.,  Peterborough, Ontario  Zone 5b

I met Dawn Tack through the Peterborough Horticultural Society. After hearing a talk about hostas, I ventured out to her home in Donwood where she had a huge garden planted with hostas under a canopy of trees. At that time, I purchased a large number of hostas and brought them home. The hostas and my shaded garden were a perfect match. The hostas thrived over the years and I must say that my workload has decreased greatly. The hostas come back year after year and they look marvelous. Their huge leaves cover the earth and few weeds grow in between them. They ask for nothing more than an occasional top dressing of manure, compost and good garden soil

Since that time, when I was interested in purchasing newer varieties of hostas, I knew that Gardens Plus was the place to go. In all of the Peterborough area, she has the largest variety of hostas in different sizes.  A few years ago, my garden had to be expanded to show off my new statue, Flora.  Back to Gardens Plus I went, knowing that I would be able to shop at my leisure, get good advice and pick out new varieties of hostas to add to my garden. Flora now watches over the garden, and I have more time to sit and just enjoy the garden.

Dawn also sells a huge variety of daylilies as well as perennial flowering plants.

Gardens and comments from Mike S.,  Kingsville, Ontario  Zone 5

I wanted to finish landscaping a somewhat difficult area in my back patio area. I have to deal with the combination of partly being underneath the canopy of a large maple tree along with open sunny areas as well as dealing with different soil types (sandy and some clay). I've always liked the durabilty and variety of hostas and wanted to create a space showcasing some different species. I especially like the large/giant varieties as they seem to be the focal point of comments when people see them.

I researched the internet for hosta mail order retailers and came across the Gardens Plus site. I was immedeaitely impressed with the layout and ease of use when moving through the web pages. For me, the big seller is the availabilty of pictures that accompany the species' descriptions. The variety is superior to local general nurseries and the prices are good. The prices get better when you receive the order in the mail and can see the nice size/ condition of the plant and the care taken in the packaging. I've been enjoying dealing with Gardens Plus and continue to do so - this year I ordered an Empress Wu hosta to add to my smaller but growing collection and I am anxious to see how giant this will get in time.
